About
Camilla Nelson lectures in literature and communications, and researches in the related fields of creative practice and cultural history. Her current research project Fragments of a History of Creativity examines the cultural construction of creativity in the context of the history of ideas.
Forthcoming articles in the project include:
- the creative idea in US and UK economic theory and popular commerce in the early to mid nineteenth century (in press)
- the creative idea in US education theory and practice in the mid to late nineteenth century

Camilla is also the author of two novels, including Crooked which was shortlisted in the Ned Kelly Awards, and Perverse Acts for which she was named as one of the Sydney Morning Herald's Best Young Australian Novelists of the Year. She has twice been a judge of the prestigious NSW Premier's Literary Awards and the Kathleen Mitchell Award. She has been the recipient of grants from the Australia Council and the Australian Film Commission. She has a Walkley Award - Best All Media Online News for her work at the Sydney Morning Herald.
